Marc-Olivier Timsit
Marc-Olivier Timsit is a professor of urology at Paris Cité University and a urological surgeon at Georges Pompidou European Hospital and Necker Hospital.
Specializing in kidney transplantation, robotic and minimally invasive surgery, and onco-urology, he chaired the AFU Transplantation Committee from 2017 to 2023 and was a member of the Medical and Scientific Council of the French Biomedicine Agency from 2010 to 2020.
He holds a PhD in Medicine (Claude Bernard University, 2004) and a PhD in Biotechnology (Paris Descartes University, 2011), and has worked on preclinical models of kidney transplantation and the effects of shear stress on tubular function at the Transplant Surgery Lab (Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston).
He is also a laureate of the Académie de Médecine (2009 Urology Prize) and former president of the Sachs Scholars Association at Harvard.
Since 2024, Marc-Olivier Timsit has been the pre-figurative medical director of the Grand Paris Surgical Campus, the future school of surgery, medicine, and interventional radiology in the Île-de-France region.
